"The Saudi government has announced that Barbie dolls are Jewish tools promoting the lewd behavior of what it calls the perverted Western world, according to a government poster distributed to Saudi schools, mosques and hospitals."
Oy vey. The poster, entitled "The Jewish Doll," informs us that "Jewish Barbie dolls with their naked clothing, lewd positions, and different samples and accessories, are symbols of decadence of the perverted West." Ah, yes. There's nothing that Jews enjoy more than a morning visit to temple and a little naked clothing. The Jews love a good oxymoron.
By the way, if ever a doll were a WASP, it's Barbie. She looks like a GPS graduate, for pity's sake.

Posted by: JosiahQ at September 16, 2003 03:09 PMSomebody in my history class...I think it was Carle-Lize...did her SIP on the history of Barbie. Apparently the doll was stolen lock, stock and barrel from a German/Austrian toy company in the 1950s. She's more like the ultimate Aryan doll.

This is pretty crazy - all I can say is, *if only*.
Also, I borrowed your template...I hope you dont mind, let me know if you need credit or something.
Posted by: Greg at September 17, 2003 06:57 PMI recently read an article (not online) that attempted to argue that Hata ninga clan, last known to be active during WWII were actually the descendants of some Jewish family that eventually got involved with what eventually become Mossad today. I didn't find their argument particularly worthy (well, I don't find much of anything that tries to make assertions about "ninjas" to be really worthy at all) and the whole thing hinged on the similarity of etymologies between a Jewish word and a Japanese word. However, it constantly amazes me how often people try to ascribe conspiracies to the Jewish people.
Posted by: mkrueger at September 18, 2003 08:39 AMGreg, enjoy the use of the template and don't worry about credit. I've really enjoyed discovering your blog. And yes, if only Barbie were Jewish. It'd be nice to see her accessories include a dreidel and a latkah plate.
Matt, I once found a book in Neal Howard's trailer called "The Jews and the Japanese: The Successful Outsiders." It argued that the Jewish and Japanese cultures had triumphed in business in the latter part of the 20th century by maintaining a similarly distanced attitude toward the rest of the world. I think it was written by a Japanese guy. It traced dozens of rather forced parallels, and had a plate of pictures showing Israeli and Japanese diplomats shaking hands at various international functions. There were not a whole lot of pictures.
I really want to find that book again. Morris Yaegashi and I still speak of it reverently from time to time.
Posted by: mesh at September 18, 2003 10:59 AMI find the similarities between Great Britain and Japan to be more striking as well as the fact that there are significant differences despite some very obvious similarities. It also seems the Japanese have a subconcious obsession with Jews. There are a lot of Kaballistic symbols in anime, for example... though that book you mentioned is news to me, I'll have to see if I can find it. =) I'm a fan of things Japanese as you know, but I can't say I'm particularly impressed with their journalism. Your description of that book sounds very much like a documentary I saw last time I was in Tokyo basically trying to argue that the Roman Empire and GW Bush are the same and that it may even be possible Bush is attempting to resurrect the Roman Empire. 0_0
The best part was that they showed footage from gladiator movies as "proof".
Posted by: mkrueger at September 18, 2003 04:47 PMMatt, i also found a lot of articles about the jewish presence in Japan dating since the 8th century. Some japanese investigators, claim that japanese clans like the Hata, Azuma, and Higashi have jewish origins. Apparantly the Hata are also known as Hada and both terms derive from these two terms respectly; Yahata and Yahada. It's thought that these two names i mentioned derive from the hebrew Yehuda. The relation to the ninja comes with the Hattori clan. Some followers of this theory believe that name Hattori derive from the junction of Hata and Hori. The Hattori came from Korean and China, same as the Hata. In fact the Hata are believed by these enthusiasts to be descendents of some of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel. There are indeed a lot of similarities in japanese and jewish rituals. Also you'll find some similarities and Japanese language and Hebrew. For instance, the word "samurai" has the same meaning the hebrew word "shamarai", both sharing the same meaning, that is, the one who serves. By the way the Hata clan is said to have foreigner god. That could well be the god that jews, christians, muslims and evens rastafarians praise.
